Entrepreneurship in Cambodia
Cambodia has been said to be one of the world’s most “Outstanding Social Entrepreneurs.” FDI is growing and is responsible for Cambodia’s fast pace development. Cambodia's corporate tax is levied at 20 % for most sectors. The major problem that Cambodia faces is human resource development and the regulatory development field. It is said that Cambodia is growing very fast and within ten years will be very different country. Rich people in Cambodia are said to be the "entrepreneurship people." Women Entrepreneurship plays a big role in Cambodian entrepreneurship. Cambodia’s GDP per capital is $2100, which makes Cambodia one of the poorest countries in Asia. External dept in 2002 was 65.6% of GDP, with dept servicing 3% of exports and imports. While recent progress has been made in Cambodia, it still has a long way to go until it becomes attractive to more foreign investors. Per capital income lags behind that of other countries in the region, and most (75%) families still rely on the agricultural segment for employment. However, the textile industry is thriving and is responsible for some growth in recent years. Though the country has enjoyed a 5% growth rate, fears of renewed political instability and rampant corruption help keep direct foreign investment low. Other countries have pledged aid to Cambodia on the condition that it focuses on resolving these problems. Most agree that there is a larger amount of risk in entrepreneurial activities in Cambodia than other countries in the region.
